Bonus UCBTC workshops

Video of the day! Death by Roo Roo UCB NY Cage Match

If you didn’t grab a place on the Upright Citizen Brigade Improv 101 (or even if you did), we have a bunch of great beginners and advanced workshops with our amazing instructors. We’ve lined up something for people newer to improv and we’ve also arranged some advanced workshops that require more of an understanding of long-form improv and the Harold.

If you’d like to see them play, they’ll be at The Miller Pub on Saturday 14th February. Grab tickets here.

Let’s Do Scenes UCB style!

with Anthony Atamanuik

The name says it all! I want you to do as many scenes as possible in a three hour period! We will open the workshop with a run of scenes with different adjustments (initiate with an action, pick an emotional state, only endow your partner, mirror your partner, etc) then, what will we do?!?! Run more scenes! We’ll run montages based on monologues and I’ll note the shit out of you. Does that sound fun?
Monday February 9th. 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Advanced Harolds

with John Murray
Unconditional support and playful collaboration. Students will make aggressive use of each other’s ideas, games, and characters, both in individual scenes and the Harold as a whole. Students will work towards a style of play that is rooted in strong listening and strong decision making.
Monday February 9th. 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Dynamic Scenework

with Betsy Stover
No gimmicks. No complicated forms. Just good, old school, great long form improv. Join one of UCB’s longest-tenured teachers for an intensive clinic on how to use simple, classic techniques to turn yourself into a less thinky, more adventurous scene partner.
Tuesday February 10th. 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Power Improv

with Ari Voukydis
Think less, explore more and get the most out of your choices and discoveries. This workshop will show you techniques to leave the crappy, thinky part of improv behind as you reconnect with the power and vitality that made this shit fun in the first place.
Tuesday February 10th 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Game! Game! Game!

with John Murray
In this workshop we will learn how UCB defines and plays game. We will also learn how to make sure our scene work is still grounded and fun while playing with this focus on game.
Thursday 12 February 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Advanced Harold Workshops

with Anthony Atamanuik
Yes! Let’s do Harold’s that are enjoyable, funny and have real discoveries. Harold is an alchemical formula that should transform a suggestion into a myriad of metaphors and ideas, defining and elevating that suggestion through organic and collective interpretation. So, let’s do that, huh? How ’bout it!?
Thursday 12 February 7-10 pm
£35 TICKETS

Tracers

with Anthony Atamanuik
Tracers is a form with a series of scenes all taking place at the same time in and around one location. Like a monoscene, but bending space and time.
Sunday 15 February 10-5 pm
£60 TICKETS
