She’s back! Last year we loved having Lydia Hensler over so much, we’ve brought her back. Lydia is an amazing improviser and teacher of improv at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York. She plays on the superb team Grandma’s Ashes, a delightful team that play with so much joy, support and energy that their comedy feels almost communal. She also plays in Take in Personal, The Hip Hop Improv Show and can be seen in various web videos for UCBComedy, College Humor, Jest, Landline TV etc.
A weekend focusing on how to push your long form pieces and squeeze every interesting idea and element of fun out of them.
Tangents – An inventive form where teams blow out the game/world of each scene completely in first beats, then pick a tangential idea from each to play in the second, leading to six fully developed games/worlds ready to be explored and united.
Group Game Harolds – An inverted Harold where all the beats are group games and the group games are 1-person scenes.
THIS IS AN ADVANCE WORKSHOP AND STUDENTS WILL NEED A KNOWLEDGE OF THE HAROLD
The Macroscene is a fully improvised show where scenes never end, but instead flow out of old locations and into new ones. Everyone is connected and the macroscene follows those connections from location to location.
This workshop explores all the different structures and challenges with group scenes and conquers them all!
Exploring how to find the fun and the humanity in characters big and small. And how to play an effective and multidimensional “Straight Man”.
This is for nervous or inhibited improvisers who need that extra push to bust out of their shell.
